Greece braces for a ‘Medicane’ — a rare Mediterranean hurricane named Ianos
Greece is bracing for a rare tropical storm known as a Medicane — or Mediterranean hurricane — which could reach its capital Athens.
Greek authorities warned the storm, named Ianos, would bring gale force winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding and power cuts on the western Ionian islands and southern Peloponnese peninsula over the next two days.
