From the Archives 1998: The Herald on Bill Clinton’s impeachment

On December 19, 1998, as Bill Clinton was impeached by a vote in the US House of Representatives, the Herald's editorial examined the political crisis saying it was "a product of the ethical decline in the way politics is currently being conducted in Washington".

It is a measure of the ethical degradation of the political process in Washington during the Clinton Administration that many Americans believe that the Republicans in the House of Representatives hurried through the impeachment debate and vote so that they could get home to celebrate Christmas with their families.
