Balance in the international system

A calm and responsible view on the role of Israel

Balance, responsibility, future.

The world is going through a time of big changes.

Power held best when it learns to hold back.

Political, economic, and strategic interests are shifting and affecting peace and stability everywhere.

In this context, Israel is an important and recognized state. Its right to exist is clear and must not be questioned. This is the starting point for any serious discussion.

At the same time, it is becoming more clear that its influence and role have grown in ways that can go beyond balance. This creates tensions and raises questions about fairness and equality between states. This view is not driven by bias or anti-Israel feeling. It is a reality that more and more people can see.

It also appears that many choices made by the West are not giving the expected results. In some cases, it feels like we are backing the wrong horse. Some people believe that such alliances follow the thinking of Thucydides, but this may not fully reflect today’s complex world.

In a similar way, even well-meaning supporters of ideas linked to Donald Trump are starting to rethink their views. Over time, more people begin to understand the nature and impact of these choices and where they may lead. This is not about conflict, but about learning and rethinking in a changing world.

At the same time, Europe and the so-called Global South should take more responsibility. They should act with more confidence, develop their own balanced strategies, and play a stronger role in shaping a fair international system.

We may also say that it is short-sighted to believe that aligning with Israel, as it acts today, will serve short-term, medium-term, or long-term interests. This may not only affect others, but could also harm Israel itself in the long run.

A more balanced and responsible role for all actors, including Israel, is not a rejection. It is necessary for a fair and stable world, where no power acts without limits.

Today’s world does not need blind alignment or passive acceptance. It needs calm thinking, dialogue, and confidence.

It needs support for the rights and security of all states, together with balance and accountability. Only then can we build a better and more stable future.
