“Free Cyprus, without territorial and ethnic divisions”

Press Release

The Initiative “Pan-Cyprian Mobilization for the Freedom of Cyprus” has issued a letter to Ms. Cuellar and requested a meeting with her.

Yesterday, the Initiative “Pan-Cyprian Mobilization for the Freedom of Cyprus” sent a letter to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus, Ms. Holguin Cuellar. A delegation delivered the letter to a representative of the UNFICYP Political Affairs Office, preceded by a written request for a meeting with Ms. Cuellar as part of her engagements with members of civil society. A representative of the Initiative has already requested a meeting with Ms. Cuellar to be arranged upon her return to Cyprus in early March.

The letter submitted to the United Nations conveys the strong support of the Initiative for the termination of Turkish occupation and its vision of a “unified, democratic, pluralistic, and secular state”. The “Pan-Cyprian Mobilization for the Freedom of Cyprus” is a citizen initiative comprising Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians, and Latins, who have signed a joint Declaration of Principles on the Cyprus issue. The common goal is a free homeland without territorial and ethnic divisions.
