Η BPRArts Cultural Management, παρουσιάζει το «Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Λεμεσού» – «Limassol Photography Festival». Το Φεστιβάλ που ξεκινά στις 20 Οκτωβρίου και θα διαρκέσει μέχρι τις 12 Νοεμβρίου 2023, υλοποιείται με την οικονομική στήριξη του Υφυπουργείου Πολιτισμού Κύπρου.
Το Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Λεμεσού, επιθυμεί να εδραιωθεί ως ένα ετήσιο σημαντικό πολιτιστικό γεγονός που θα συμβάλλει ουσιαστικά στην παρουσίαση, ανάπτυξη και εξέλιξη της φωτογραφίας. Έχει θέσει ως στόχο την προώθηση της φωτογραφικής δημιουργίας ως μίας σημαντικής εικαστικής μορφής έκφρασης, τόσο σε εθνικό όσο και σε διεθνές επίπεδο.
Ενταγμένο στο σύγχρονο τοπίο της Φωτογραφίας, το Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Λεμεσού, σκοπεύει να λειτουργήσει ως όχημα απόδοσης του σύγχρονου κοινωνικού γίγνεσθαι, όπως αυτό εκφράζεται μέσα από τις διαφορετικές οπτικές αισθητικές και προσλήψεις των φωτογράφων/δημιουργών οι οποίες προβάλλουν, προτείνουν και ενίοτε εξελίσσουν το φωτογραφικό λεξιλόγιο.
Το φετινό Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Λεμεσού αφιερώνεται στον εκλιπόντα συμμετέχοντα φωτογράφο Γιώργο Πανταζή ο οποίος έφυγε απροσδόκητα στις 4 Οκτωβρίου 2023.
Η θεματική για το 2023 είναι «Τόπος ή Τοπίο» – «Place or Landscape». Οι δημιουργοί που συμμετέχουν στην υπαίθρια έκθεση στον Μόλο Λεμεσού, Αντιγόνη Σολομωνίδου Δρουσιώτου, Νίκολας Κωνσταντίνου, Γιώργος Πανταζής, Mo Khatib και Max Zhiltsov, διεισδύουν στην πόλη και μέσα από τις φωτογραφίες τους μεταφέρουν οπτικά την καθημερινότητα αλλά και την τοπική ταυτότητα. Οι εμπειρίες και αισθητικές των δημιουργών, συνομιλούν με το σήμερα της Λεμεσού και αλληλεπιδρούν μαζί της. Μέσα από τα διάφορα σημειολογικά στοιχεία που συνθέτονται μέσα στις φωτογραφίες τους, τίθεται το ερώτημα αν τελικά πρόκειται για τον Τόπο που έγινε Τοπίο ή το Τοπίο που έγινε Τόπος. Στην δεύτερη φωτογραφική έκθεση με τίτλο «Greece is Ordinary II: Triptychs», σε επιμέλεια Κωνσταντίνου Αργιανά, που παρουσιάζεται στο Κέντρο Φωτογραφίας 6x6, οι συμμετέχοντες Έλληνες φωτογράφοι Μαρίλια Φωτοπούλου, Κώστας Καψιάνης και Μαρίνος Τσαγκαράκης, αν και εκκινούν από διαφορετικές αφετηρίες και έχουν διαφορετικές στοχεύσεις, σχολιάζουν με σαρκαστική αλλά εξόχως κριτική διάθεση, μέσα από τα τρίπτυχά τους, διάφορες εκφάνσεις του νεοελληνικού πολιτισμού, των υποκειμένων που τον συγκροτούν και των υλικών ιχνών τους. Μία εναλλακτική οπτική ανθρωπολογία του νεοελληνικού πολιτισμού.

20/10 – 12/11/2023
- Υπαίθρια Έκθεση στο παραλιακό μέτωπο του Μόλου Λεμεσού (Caffè Nero) με τίτλο «Τόπος ή Τοπίο», σε επιμέλεια Στέφανου Κουρατζή. Λαμβάνουν μέρος οι 5 σύγχρονοι φωτογράφοι: Αντιγόνη Σολομωνίδου Δρουσιώτου, Γιώργος Πανταζής, Max Zhiltsov, Mo Khatib, και Νίκολας Κωνσταντίνου.
20/10 – 29/10/2023
- Στη δεύτερη φωτογραφική έκθεση με τίτλο «Greece is Ordinary II: Triptychs», που παρουσιάζεται στο Κέντρο Φωτογραφίας 6x6, συμμετέχουν τρεις Έλληνες φωτογράφοι: ο Κώστας Καψιάνης, ο Μαρίνος Τσαγκαράκης και η Μαρίλια Φωτοπούλου. Οι συμμετέχοντες καλλιτέχνες, αν και εκκινούν από διαφορετικές αφετηρίες και έχουν διαφορετικές στοχεύσεις, διερευνούν διάφορες εκφάνσεις της νεοελληνικής κοινωνίας, των υποκειμένων που τη συγκροτούν και των υλικών ιχνών τους. Εν τέλει, η παρούσα έκθεση μπορεί να ιδωθεί ως μια εναλλακτική οπτική ανθρωπολογία του νεοελληνικού πολιτισμού.
22 και 29/10/2023
- Στο Μόλο Λεμεσού (Caffé Nero), ο φωτογράφος German Moiseev, θα φωτογραφίζει με αναλογική φωτογραφική μηχανή μεγάλου φορμάτ του 20ου αιώνα και θα παρουσιάσει την διαδικασία αναλογικής εκτύπωσης.
Ώρες 15:00-18:00 και θα είναι ανοιχτό στο κοινό
21, 22 και 29 Οκτωβρίου
- Στο πλαίσιο του Φεστιβάλ Φωτογραφίας Λεμεσού, στις πιο πάνω ημερομηνίες, θα οργανωθούν συζητήσεις και παρουσιάσεις από τους συμμετέχοντες φωτογράφους Αντιγόνη Σολομωνίδου Δρουσιώτου, Max Zhiltsov και Mo Khatib, εργαστήριο φωτογραφίας δρόμου με τον φωτογράφο Στέφανο Κουρατζή ενώ από τον φωτογράφο German Moiseev, θα γίνεται αναλογική φωτογράφιση και απευθείας αναλογική εκτύπωση φωτογραφιών μεγάλου φορμάτ.

BPRArts Cultural Management presents the “Limassol Photography Festival”, which opens on 20 October and will last until 12 November 2023. The Festival is being held with the financial support of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture.
The Limassol Photography Festival aspires to be established as an important annual event that will significantly contribute to the presentation, development and evolution of photography. Its primary aim is to promote photographic creativity as an outstanding form of visual expression, both on the national and international levels.
As part of the modern photographic landscape, the Limassol Photography Festival aims to function as a means of recording contemporary social life in the various visual styles and perspectives of the photographers/creative artists, which project, suggest and sometimes enrich the photographic vocabulary.
This year’s Limassol Photography Festival is dedicated to the late participating photographer George Pantazis who left us on the 4th of October 2023.
The theme chosen for 2023 is “Place or Landscape”. The artists participating in the open air exhibition at the Molos Seaside Park of Limassol, namely Antigone Solomonidou Droussiotou, Nicholas Constantinou, George Pantazis, Mo Khatib and Max Zhiltsov, infiltrate the city and through their pictures convey its daily life and local identity. The experiences and techniques of the artists converse with the current image of Limassol and interact with it. The composition of diverse semiological elements in their photographs gives rise to the question whether this is a Place that has become a Landscape or a Landscape that has become a Place. Exhibition curated by Stefanos Kouratzis.
In a second photographic exhibition titled “Greece is Ordinary II: Triptychs”, curated by Konstantinos Argianas, which is presented at the 6×6 Centre for Photography, the participating Greek photographers Marilia Photopoulou, Costas Kapsianis and Marinos Tsangarakis, although setting out from different starting points with their own particular objectives each, all indulge in a sarcastic yet highly critical commentary on various aspects of modern Greek culture, its underlying causes and their material traces. The particular work may be described as an alternative visual anthropology of modern Greek culture.

- Open air Exhibition at the Molos Limassol Seaside Park (Caffè Nero) titled “Place or Landscape”, curated by Stefanos Kouratzis. The five contemporary photographers taking part are: Antigone Solomonidou Droussiotou, George Pantazis, Max Zhiltsov, Mo Khatib, and Nicholas Constantinou.

- Taking part in the second photographic exhibition titled “Greece is Ordinary II: Triptychs”, curated by Konstantinos Argianas, at the 6×6 Centre for Photography, are three Greek photographers: Costas Kapsianis, Marinos Tsangarakis and Marilia Photopoulou. Although setting out from different starting points with their own particular objectives each, they all explore various aspects of modern Greek society, its underlying causes and their material traces. Ultimately, this exhibition may be seen as an alternative visual anthropology of modern Greek culture.
22 and 29/10/2023
- At the Molos Limassol Seaside Park (Caffé Nero), the photographer German Moiseev, will be taking pictures with a 20th century large format analogue camera, and provide a demonstration of the analogue printing process.
Open to the public 15:00-18:00.
21,22 and 29 October
- In the context of the Limassol Photography Festival, discussions and presentations are scheduled to take place on the above dates by the participating photographers Antigone Solomonidou Droussiotou, Max Zhiltsov and Mo Khatib. In the same context, Stefanos Kouratzis, will run a street photography workshop while photographer German Moiseev will demonstrate analogue picture taking and direct analogue printing of large format photographs.

- 21 October, 09:00 – 12:00, Street photography workshop with Stefanos Kouratzis. The 6×6 Centre for Photography has been designated as the meeting and starting point of the workshop and the finish at the Limassol Molos. The workshop, depending on the participants, will be in Greek and/or English.
- 22 October 17:30 – 18:00, work presentation and discussion with photographer Antigone Solomonidou Droussiotou at the 6×6 Centre for Photography. The presentation will be in Greek.
- 29 October 18:00 – 18:30, work presentation and discussion with photographer Max Zhiltsov at the 6×6 Centre for Photography. The presentation will be in English.
- 29 October 18:30 – 19:00, work presentation and discussion with photographer Mo Khatib at the 6×6 Centre for Photography. The presentation will be in English.
