Afghan string quartet written as Taliban took Kabul

As the Taliban took Kabul in August in 2021, young Afghan composer and trumpet player, Qudrat Wasefi, began to write a string quartet to show the chaos unfolding in Afghanistan.

The resulting music, A Melody of Hope Amidst the Chaos has recently been recorded by a group of Melbourne musicians.

Wasefi is a graduate and recent faculty member of the Afghanistan Institute of Music (ANIM).
