Pope Francis calls for end to Iraq violence and extremism on first trip since start of coronavirus pandemic
Pope Francis has made an impassioned call for an end to militant violence on the first papal visit to Iraq, saying peacemakers should finally be given a chance.
Having arrived in Baghdad slightly ahead of schedule just before 2:00pm local time on Friday, the Pope was making his first trip outside Italy since November 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
