ICC rules it has jurisdiction over Palestinian territories, paving the way for a war crimes probe

A prosecutor had asked the ICC for its legal opinion on whether its reach extended to areas occupied by Israel, after announcing in 2019 she wanted to start a full probe into alleged war crimes.

The International Criminal Court ruled Friday that it had jurisdiction over the situation in Palestinian territories, paving the way for the tribunal to open a war crimes investigation.
