The most anticipated books of 2021

The coronavirus pandemic played havoc with the publishing industry, but sales figures prove that readers didn't stop reading (from the stateswoman of English letters Hilary Mantel's final Thomas Cromwell novel to rising Australian star Jessi Tu's runaway debut novel, A Lonely Girl is a Dangerous Thing).

There was a hunger for new voices, new stories and new perspectives that the fiction and non-fiction in 2021 continues to feed, while some giants of the industry are also making a welcome return to our bookshelves.
