Paris Agreement: aiming for 1.5°C target could slow global warming within next two decades

On the eve of the Paris Agreement’s fifth anniversary, a global summit will convene to reaffirm ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

But global temperatures have already increased by nearly 1.2°C, and continue to rise at around 0.2°C per decade.
