Retired butcher John Magill has helped crack some of Australia’s most baffling crimes, but the one that drives him – the murder of his daughter – remains agonisingly out of reach.

The murder of Jane Thurgood-Dove, gunned down in the driveway of her Niddrie home 23 years ago next week, is a crime that should not have happened and could have been solved if not for a series of blind alleys and dead ends.
