Beware political agenda in reports demonising ‘African gangs’
I’m standing in a cobbled North Melbourne laneway looking at a neatly stacked pile of firewood, knowing where this story will end.

It’s a perfect autumn Sunday but I’m working, doorknocking neighbours of a short-term rental property from where police early that morning marched dozens of young people following noise complaints.
Police allege they were pelted with items, including the firewood, as four teens damaged their parked cars.
