Russia accuses UK of staging Syria gas attack

Britain’s ambassador to the United Nations says Russia’s claims are ‘grotesque, bizarre and a blatant lie.’

The Kremlin on Friday claimed that British intelligence forces helped stage the attack on the Syrian town of Douma last weekend.

The U.K. denounced the allegation as “grotesque, bizarre and a blatant lie,” the Guardian reported.

Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, said he had evidence that showed “special services of a country, which is now seeking to be in the first ranks of the Russophobic campaign, were involved in this staged event.”
