Η Καταλονία, με πρωτεύουσα την Βαρκελώνη, είναι μια από τις 16 Αυτόνομες Κοινότητες, στις οποίες χωρίζεται το Βασίλειο της Ισπανίας.

Οι Κοινότητες είναι αρμόδιες για την παιδεία, υγεία, μεταφορές, κοινωνική πρόνοια, περιβάλλον.

Όπως και οι άλλες κοινότητες, με εξαίρεση τη χώρα των Βάσκων, η Καταλονία εισπράττει το φόρο κινητής και ακίνητης περιουσίας και το φόρο κληρονομιάς (στην Βαρκελώνη είναι ιδιαίτερα υψηλός) το φόρο για τα αλκοολούχα ποτά, το 50% του ΦΠΑ και ένα ποσοστό του φόρου εισοδήματος.

Η Καταλονία είναι η τρίτη κοινότητα της Ισπανίας σε ό,τι αφορά το κατά κεφαλήν εισόδημα της χώρας και…
